The process involves the use of pastel and oil.  Pastels are made from pigments and do not fade over time, as oil paints can.  Pastels also offer a technique of blending color that is difficult for the oil painter who paints in layers.  The multiple color layers of oil paints also adhere in layers, contributing to the cracks in oil paintings.  The technique I have developed involves a special injection method which effectively transforms the properties of a pastel painting to that of an oil painting.  The technique takes the best of both arts - the rich colors of pastels and the glow and texture of oil paints.  Each piece using this process takes between six to twelve months to complete.

As an artist the actual process of making becomes an integral part of my work.  The act of making and the object made are one and the same for me.  I believe that being a self taught artist led me down this path which combines the elements of oil painting, pastel painting and intaglio etching.
